Ford Fusion Service in San Jose, CA

The Ford Fusion was originally introduced to the U.S. Market in 2009 and it's come a long way in its short 10 years. Although it can't beat the Toyota Prius in gas mileage – nobody can – many Fusion owners remain loyal to their Ford hybrids for good reason; it's a fantastic little car. Smog Man Test and Repair offers both maintenance and repair services for Ford Fusion owners. We know our way around a hybrid engine, domestic or otherwise.

Maintenance

Depending on the year you bought your Fusion, the vehicle's manufacturer recommends oil changes every 5,000, 7,500, or 10,000 miles. Check your owner's manual for the mileage milestone and bring your Fusion in when it's time for an oil change. While we're changing the oil, we will also rotate your tires and inspect your brakes, belts, hoses and fluid levels.

At 15,000 miles, you can expect a cabin air filter change and possibly a brake pad change. If you're hard on your brakes, the pads will wear down sooner; if you brake easily, they may last until the 22,500-mile check. At that check, however, we may also need to replace your rotors but it's worth the cost. Your brakes are crucial to your vehicle's safety and the sooner you replace worn parts the less expensive.

Finally, at around 30,000 miles we'll start checking your spark plugs and fuel filter. In fact, we'll make certain your entire ignition system is running as it should be. Now, you might be thinking that the maintenance listed above is the same as fuel-driven vehicles and it is because your hybrid also runs on fuel. Don't worry, we'll check the electric portion of your engine regularly and maintain it, too.

Repairs

When it comes to repairs, we see engine, electrical and steering problems the most with the Ford Fusion. Obviously, the engine is unique because it runs on electricity and fuel. Many hybrid owners complain of sluggish acceleration and an inability to maintain the speed of their vehicles, and this is usually a sign of an electrical or propulsion problem.

We have also fixed steering problems with the Ford Fusion, which are usually caused by a power steering system failure. Regular maintenance helps prevent this and many other issues with your Ford Fusion, as we can replace power steering fluid when it's low to prevent part damage. Finally, if your Fusion's check engine light comes on, bring it in right away for a diagnostic check and repair.
