3 Ways to Stay Entertained on Your Next Road Trip

Road trips are expected to increase in significant numbers this summer. Did you know that an estimated 87% of Americans are expected to travel at least once this summer (Destination Analysts)? So naturally, we are more than excited to get out of the house, but many of us dread the long and boring car ride. Don't fret because we have compiled a list of ways to keep yourself from sleeping the entire car ride.

Have Fun with a Sing-Along

Listening to music is always an excellent way to pass the time. If you are traveling with friends or family, this is a fun way to keep your energy pumping. Make sure you have a way to connect your phone to your car speakers, either through Bluetooth, aux cable, or USB cable. Here are some of our favorite music suggestions:

  • Disney Soundtracks: Disney is known for its uplifting and catchy soundtracks, and they are loved by both the young and old. Choose from traditional classics like Beauty and the Beast to newer hits like Moana.
  • Musical Show Tunes: Nothing screams "sing-along' like a good musical. Some notable musicals that have a huge fan base are Hamilton and Wicked
  • Custom Playlist: Many music streaming platforms give you the option to make playlists with music you love. They also have pre-made playlists based on the music you've listened to in the past.

Have fun with your music, but be sure to have your music at a moderate sound level to avoid causing distractions for the driver.

Play Road Trip Games

Another way to save yourself from boredom is to play games. Games are a fantastic way to keep your kids entertained without raising their screen times. Here are some of our recommendations: Truth or Dare, I Spy, Guess the Song, the License Plate Game, and 20 Questions

Listen to Podcasts or Audiobooks

This idea is for people who are not really into music, and it is suitable for those who are road tripping solo. Both podcasts and audiobooks are the new substitutes for radio talk shows. They are the new enjoyable and modern ways of storytelling.
