I stopped in here in the afternoon on a Tuesday and luckily there was no one else waiting. This place is a test only center and only takes about 5-10 minutes, so I'm sure if there were a few people there, it wouldn't take so long for your turn. With the $20 off coupon, that saved me some money, only catch is that even if you fail your smog test, you'll still have to pay. I think most places say it's free until you pass. Overall, this place is super fast, cheap and great service. I'll be sure to come back here.

Fantastic customer service - very polite and friendly. Performed the smog in 5-10 min and made the process painless. Would recommend to everyone seeking smog cert.

Wow. Haters be warned, please don't mess with MY smog man. Perks: Local San Jose Shop. Cute attendant. Coupon gets you $20 dollars off, make sure you print it and bring it. Clean Shop with vending machines and chairs. No little fruit flies pestering you in your ear or chicken being cooked in the back...you know what I am saying.... Speedy, Speedy. The man must be on the "no time to bullshit" clock. He wants to get you in and out with your certificate SUPER FAST. Cons: NONE If the DMV forces you to get a smog check, and I have seen YOU people with those junkers on the road, Do IT! Don't be scared..it's easy and pain free...unless you have a lemon of a car. Notes for the Smog Man: Don't be a prick, and show up at 525 hoping to be seen. Call to make sure they can accommodate you! Don't be Rude! Karma people, it's called consideration.

There was no other customer before me when I arrived. When I got to the counter, he greeted me from a distance and stopped what he was doing to come and speak to me. He asked me what I wanted, if that was my first time there [which it was], and to fill out the form on the clipboard. I waited in the clean and organized room with a table, magazines, and candles inside. There was also a can soda vending machine. After ten minutes, he told me that my vehicle had passed with a pretty good margin. I wonder if it's because I had filled the tank with fuel system cleaner the day before. I had a coupon that discounted $20, leaving me with a balance of $58. This is $8 more than I paid for a smog test for another car, but the service here was much faster and never need an appointment. The visit was flawless.

Had my smog today. Searched around because I always seem to find places that are terrible. So, after checking YELP and seeing the great reviews, I found this place. Pretty close to home and they have a great $20 off coupon on their website. I was skeptical, but when I arrived, I was surely surprised. The place was clean, organized and I was greeted by a friendly man that said he will take care of everything. We left the car in the lot and he pulled it up, tested everything and then backed it out and parked it easily so I can pull right out and leave. EXCELLENT service! Clean environment and I was there for ONLY 10 MINUTES! NOW THAT'S SERVICE! I will be taking all 4 of my cars there from now on. Never knew I could have a great experience at a smog station =) Thanks!

Smog Man ROCKS! Waiting room was clean, had a soda vending machine plus current magazines for us women. The owner Phillip said that he's been doing this for 8 years. He's definitely learned to be very efficient - I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes. It was $58 with the $20 off coupon from smogtips.com. Maybe it's cheaper somewhere else but it's worth the quick friendly service!

Edit: Discount Smog on Berryessa in San Jose is $40 total with the $10 coupon from smogtips.com. Discount Smog has decent reviews and is $18 cheaper! Original review: There seems to be only 1 testing station but the spot was open when I got there. The tech was very nice and clear during the whole process. It took about 15 minutes for everything. With the $20 off coupon, it was $58 total like everyone has mentioned. I also got the free car wash coupon. They electronically submit the smog cert and give you a copy. I will admit that I came here solely based on reviews so I don't know if you can get a smog test done cheaper at other places.

The guy who runs the shop is friendly and quick. I showed up without an appointment on a Tuesday, and had to wait for one other car to finish, then was on my way in 25 minutes. Be sure to bring the 20$ coupon.

I have high standards when it comes to customer service and professionalism. I expect whomever I deal with to know their job and give it their very best. (This standard applies to me also) So for me to write a review on Yelp, I have to be either very impressed or very disappointed. That being said, I went to the Smog Man based on the reviews I found on Yelp and I was not disappointed. Star #1 is for how many times the phone rang before it was answered. In this day of menu trees, frustration and never dealing with a human, it was nice to have the phone answered after a couple of rings and to be able to speak to a real person. Star #2 is for professionalism. Phillip is courteous and knowledgeable both on the phone and in person. Star # 3 is for cleanliness. The shop, the waiting room, and the bathroom are immaculate. (Including his vintage car and motorcycle) Star # 4 is for delivering the goods. Even with one person ahead of me there was very little wait time. No hidden charges - using the $20 coupon, the total was $58 includidng the smog certificate. Star # 5 is for honesty. When taking off my gas cap Phillip accidently dropped it on the floor and a little piece broke off. I didn't see him drop it and I certainly would not have known until I put gas in my car. Phillip informed me of breakage, provided a new cap and asked me if I wanted to keep the broken one as a spare. Fast, efficient, knowledgeable, professional, and honest. Very hard to find nowadays. The Smog Man will be the place I refer all my family, friends and clients.
